James J. Schlichting established his law firm in 2004 in Northfield, Minnesota to provide legal and mediation services in the areas of real estate, estate planning, wills, trusts, probate and business and family law with an emphasis on resolving matters by mediation and agreement rather than litigation.
Mr. Schlichting previously practiced law for over 25 years in Albert Lea, Minnesota.
James Schlichting is a lifelong resident of Minnesota. He was raised on a livestock farm near Waltham in southern Minnesota. He graduated cum laude from St. Olaf College in 1968 and with honors from law school, Rutgers-the State University, in 1975 with a degree of juris doctor. He served two years as an officer in the United States Navy on a mine sweeper.
James Schlichting is a member of the Minnesota State Bar and the American Bar Associations. He is a past president of the Tenth District of the Minnesota State Bar Association and has served on its various committees, including its ethics committee. He is admitted to practice in all courts in the State of Minnesota and the United States District Court for the State of Minnesota.
James Schlichting is an AV rated lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell. He is a volunteer attorney for Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services and a volunteer mediator for the Minnesota Department of Human Rights. He is an Early Neutral Evaluator.
